Forgive and forget. It sounds easy enough! Things are usually not as easy as they sound and when it comes to forgiving that is definitely true. It is much easier to remember wrongs, harbor hurts, and fester up old negative feelings than it is to forgive and forget. It is also easier to let them into your heart and locked them up for later when you can recall them all over again.

There is nothing like recycled negative memories and feelings to strengthen the bonds of anger and prevent you from forgiving. You may not even know what you are doing it, but may be building a fortified wall around your heart to prevent forgiveness.

Forgiving takes energy and is liberating. It opens the door of our heart so blessings can be poured in. Forgiveness is a manifestation of love. Through love you are able to let go and replace anger, hurt, resentment, and bitterness with joy, peace, and well-being. See, doesn't that sound easy? Of course it isn't, but you have a direct connection with the One who came and gave his life so that the sins of the world could be forgiven. Jesus Christ can fill you with the strength and love you need today, right now, to forgive and forget. Ask Him to re-design your heart, take down the walls,and fill your heart with forgiveness. If you don't, you may never forgive yourself.
